What is it?

Geographical names follow specific article rules. NO ARTICLE with: (1) most countries (France, Japan, Brazil), (2) cities (Paris, Tokyo), (3) continents (Europe, Asia), (4) single mountains (Mount Everest), (5) lakes (Lake Victoria). USE "THE" with: (1) plural countries (the USA, the Philippines), (2) countries with "kingdom/republic/states" (the UK, the Czech Republic), (3) rivers (the Thames, the Nile), (4) oceans/seas (the Atlantic, the Mediterranean), (5) mountain ranges (the Alps, the Himalayas), (6) deserts (the Sahara), (7) groups of islands (the Bahamas).
